The annual "Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards" for design of building structures are presented each year at SEAOC's annual State Convention, which generally occurs during the month of September. A special plenary session is held to annouce and present the winning project entries, and hand out the awards to the engineering design firm recepients.
Awards and Categories: One "Excellence Award", SEAOC's highest design honor, and up to two "Certificate of Merit" awards are presented for both "Large Building Projects" and "Small Builidng Projects" within each building design category. These building categories currently include:
New Construction, Retrofit /Alteration, Infrastructure, Historic Preservation, Study / Research / Guidelines, Special Use Structures, Landmark Structures and Sustainable Design.
Entry Information: The awards program is open to all engineering firms, located within the state of California, involved in the design of building structures. The building project entry can be located outside of California, but all of the engineering design must have been done and completed by engineers residing in California. The rules, regulations, and entry applications for the annual SEAOC "Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards" program can be downloaded from the website below. Entry applications typically become available after April 1st, but check SEAOC website.
